Cornered tigers throw in everything and the kitchen sink

The LTTE on its last legs are launching wave after wave of counter attacks to regain lost territory. However, all of these futile attacks have been successfully repulsed and the tigers have lost over 100 cadres in the last 24 hours of fighting. Intel report suggest that the LTTE is getting their entire Radha units cadres ready for suicide missions against the advancing the SLA.

The GoSL has lifted all restrictions that were preventing the SLA from going in for the final kill, the last three weeks have seen reduced action as the SLA were requested to not to create mayhem. While the army prepares for the very last final push, the President will be heading for an overseas visit to Jordan. The President may not be available for a press conference while he is away. The SLA is expected to go for an all out offensive tonight and will engage in round the clock missions. The idea is to exhaust the LTTE’s hardcore cadres and finish them off. The SLAF may increase their CAS missions using MI 24/35s, while SLN SBS is already playing a major part. There are some reports coming in that Farah 2 has some snipers as well as mounted artillery.

Meanwhile, the 57th division has uncovered air craft wheels, pilot uniforms, cockpit accessories, a propeller, light aircraft engine and wings during routine clearing missions in Thevipuram. It is not clear what type aircraft these parts belong to.

Watch this space for further updates, we will bring round the clock updates to you from now on.

Mahen or anyone, please clarify.

I have a big question. Appericiate if someone can clarify. Why can't we drop several bombs to farah 2 ship. Clearly they are firing from that. What prevents us from attacking it from air? It's not within a civillian settlement. is it a civillian settlement ?

MBRL Recovered is Similar to one which was recovered in Toppigala (mini, 12 barrel) . Probably Pakistani origin.

SLA recently, recovered rockets which is been used to this mini MBRL.

End is near. These are the last weapons of the LTTE.

Vajira said...

soorapappa,

It would be a diplomatic blunder to use heavy weaponry or air raids after a pledge given to the International community. But GOSL will be under less pressure once the Tamil Nadu elections are over.

soorapappa...සූරපප්පා said...

Thanks Vajira and mahen!

Yes. But I think if we just video this clearly and then drop some bombs saying it's a danger to civillians and then publish as soon as attcking this would be a good idea than risking too much lives unnecessary.

Anyway lets hope our heros has a better plan :)

Sam,

According to Mr. John Perkins, economic hit mans and diplomatic hit mans are only the first wave and we already got this first wave. (Mr. Blake, Mr. Millband and French foreign minister). I think UN representative Mr. Gordan Wise all so in the similar line.

What I’m afraid of what would be there next attempt against our motherland. I think this is what happens to Prabhakaran also. The west try to get him for their own agenda but he never gave in. This is the point we got the green signal to eliminate him. But nobody, I repeat nobody thought MR will annihilate LTTE this soon using their own leader VP. Now that west is loosing the both ends in grip, I just wonder how will be the future events will unfold in mother lanka.

Unknown said...

Santhush and Sam

Sri Lanka has been already hit with economic hitmen. We're deeply in debt. Our leaders have been targeted but they were not able to eliminate our leaders. I think our secret service is doing a great job at protecting MR. The third part is of course invasion, but I don't think that will happen. There are many reasons for that, one being the US military is overstretched fighting terrorists in Muslim countries. Plus the United States needs to keep its military for Pakistan, in case the Taliban takes control. An Islamic fundamental Pakistan is bad for us all. Also, there are other countries that are more strategic for the US than Sri Lanka (like Iran).

I personally don't think the United States is too worried about Sri Lanka. If you remember, the US was supporting Sri Lanka last year. It was clearly against the LTTE but after Obama got into power, the US foreign policy towards Sri Lanka changed. So all of you Sri Lankans living in the US, please don't vote for democrats again.

I'm still not sure why the US foreign policy towards Sri Lanka changed. It might be because:

1) US is worried about the influence of China over Sri Lanka
2) Tamil Diaspora in foreign countries are putting pressure on their governments that are allies of the United States.
3) Tamils have supported Obama and Hillary during their campaign

Sam Perera said...

John,

It is number 3 and the fact that there is no strategic significance in SL for US. There was fund raising campaigns in US called Tamil Terrorists for Hillary and Tamil Terrorists for Obama. It seems that both candidates got handsomely paid by LTTE. However, by dancing to the tune of Tamil Terrorists, the current administration is doing a fine job at making a nation hostile towards USA. Perhaps, USA have already found that it is more valuable to support Tamil Terrorists than 20 million small democracy.

Sam Perera said...

Santhush,

It is very likely that most of the NGOs and HRW are instruments incognito for such dirty jobs. I will be more than happy if we keep all the NGOs, HRW, MSF, RSF, and AI out of SL altogether.

Many expatriate Sri Lankans are promoting contributions to the Ranaviru fund which is in it self is a meritorious and a deserving cause. In the meantime LTTE and its international network is using their collections for malicious propaganda campaign that I believe is done with a dubious ulterior motive much larger than saving Prabakaran.

In my view the expatriates have got their priorities mixed up. Their plan of action should be;-

Persuade the GOSL and also all patriotic political parties in Sri Lanka to bring forward legislation that will ensure the dependants of SLDF’s are looked after for their life on the state expenditure. This to include housing, health, primary to university education, state jobs, living expenditure, transport and other expenditure (or concessions in public transport) etc. This has to be a comprehensive legislation that every soldier who is killed or disabled do not have to depend on anyone for ever.

On the other hand the patriotic expatriates should be using the funds collected with if possible with grants from the GOSL, to counter the propaganda of LTTE using professional advertising companies and mainstream media of the west. We need to communicate the crucial aspects and draw them to websites etc. that have full information. All of us know the lies, deceptions, killings of innocents, harassing Diaspora for collections, HR violations, hostage taking, occupying the NFZ designated to civilians, shooting the civilians that attempted to flee etc. These maters should be brought through the international media by way of paid print advertisements and TV spots etc. Fist things first patriots. Let’s counter this propaganda with our might.

One wonders if survivor accounts will allow historians to document the last days of the “No fire zone bunker” as the LTTE defense of its final two square kilometres of territory, actually in effect its control of one massive refugee camp of perhaps twenty to thirty thousand people crumbles. The similarities are quite obvious. A leader who led his people to ruin with a nihilistic agenda, a totalitarian approach, a scorched earth policy and finally a divorce from reality and the refusal to surrender when the war was really lost. Rather like at the Yalta conference, the Sri Lankan military has taken the decision that it will accept nothing other than the unconditional surrender of the LTTE and the bringing to justice or even the elimination of the LTTE’s leader and his entourage. Similar in more recent times the US and its allies, including the UK, decided that Saddam and his senior Baath Party leaders had to be eliminated or taken out of current and future political leadership.

Bugger! I pity the historians who will venture into fatty's bunker, 'post facto' of course, to document the last days of the fat monkey. The feces and urine that would be puddled on the floor from the fat man as he lost control of his bowels and bladder as death loomed would be punishment enough. But add the 'thala thel' smell to that stench and you have a potent aroma to knock out even the most tenacious.

Cheers!

NDTV presents India's largest exit poll covering over 71,000 voters from across the country.

Tamil Nadu, the state which everyone is watching keenly, is headed for a neck-and-neck result between the AIADMK and the DMK Front.

Narendra Modi seems set to better his past performance as BJP looks good to win decisively in Gujarat. The party will also benefit from an uneven vote distribution and is likely to win in Karnataka and in partnership with the JD(U), is set to sweep Bihar.

The Congress retains dominance in Andhra Pradesh and slips through in Orissa thanks to the split in the BJP-BJD alliance.

These are forecasts for some crucial states from an exit poll conducted by NDTV in General Elections 2009. The fieldwork was done by GfK-Mode and 71,500 people were surveyed across India.

On Wednesday, Dr Prannoy Roy and Dorab Sopariwala, along with a panel of experts, analysed the exit poll forecasts for 196 seats in six important states. They shall discuss the rest of the states over the next two days before counting of votes on Saturday, May 16.

Earlier on Wednesday, an estimated 62 per cent of the electorate exercised their franchise in the fifth and final phase of polling in Lok Sabha elections, bringing down the curtain on the month-long democratic exercise, the longest in the world.

The day saw elections to 86 constituencies across nine states and two Union Territories, including all 39 seats in Tamil Nadu.

Counting will be held on May 16.

Andhra Pradesh:

Of the 42 seats, the Congress-led UPA seems set to reaffirm its dominance and repeat its 2004 performance of grabbing a winning 29 seats. The Third Front, which includes the TDP, is projected to gain three seats taking its tally to 10, and the NDA may lose three seats down to two from five in 2004.

Bihar:

The NDA is set to sweep Bihar, winning 33 of the 40 seats. That is up a whopping 22 seats from its 2004 tally of 11. The UPA loses two of its three seats and the rest of the loss is borne by the new Lalu-Paswan Fourth Front combine which loses 21 seats to come crashing down to a mere five seats. A clear thumbs up for Nitish Kumar and his chief ministership.

Gujarat:

From East to West. Nitish Kumar and Narendra Modi did not just dramatically share stage to underscore BJP-JD(U) affection. They also share healthy wins in their respective states. In Gujarat, Narendra Modi is set to gain from his thin margin of 2004, and may add four seats to take his tally to 18. The UPA consequently would slide down four to eight.

Orissa:

The BJP-BJD split in Orissa is likely to help the Congress slip through to get just ahead of the Third Front, which includes Naveen Patnaik's Biju Janata Dal. The UPA looks likely to get 10 seats up seven from its 2004 tally, to nine for the Third Front, down two seats. The NDA loses five seats from its 2004 tally and comes down to two.

Karnataka:

The NDA looks set to do surprisingly well in Karnataka thanks to uneven vote distribution. So, even though the Congress-led UPA may have the larger vote share, the BJP-led NDA is set to win most seats, 17 out of the 28. That is down one from its previous tally. A gain for the UPA, which takes up its tally to nine from eight last year.

Tamil Nadu:

In this state, where the Tamils in Sri Lanka issue has been hot, the alliances led by the two regional giants AIADMK and the DMK are set for a photo-finish. The DMK-led UPA is likely to see a significant six-seat loss down to 20 seats. And the AIADMK may gain five to take its tally to 18.

Overall picture so far:

Six states, 196 seats: The NDA had won 55 of these seats in 2004. It looks set to add 17 to take that tally to 72. The UPA had 81 of these and is likely to lose 4 to get 77 -- still ahead. The Third Front is likely to gain six in its new avatar to grab 39 of these seats and the Fourth Front may lose a huge 20 seats, with the combined tally dwindling to just six.

Alliances:

NDA: BJP, JD(U), SS, AFP, AKALI, RLD, INLD, NPF
UPA: CONG, NCP, DMK, TC, JMM, JKNC, RPI
Third Front: LEFT, BSP, AIADMK, TDP, BJD, TRS, PMK, JDS, MDMK
Fourth Front: RJD, LJP, SP, PRP

59 Div. have suffered some casualties due to yesterdays fighting. They have slightly readjusted their defence lines.

blogger @ DW said [58 Division will capture the NFZ beach front (where the abandon ship "Farah" is lying)within next few hours. Now they are only about 50 meters away the target location].
Any information on this?

Sam

That was an article from www.ndtv.com. I am not an expert in Indian politics, but if BJP alliance and Congress is a close finish the ppl like Jayalalitha will have a greater bargaining power. May not be good position for SL.

booboo,

It's true.

58 was 100m to 200m away from the area where the Farah 2 is lying. 58 must have taken the area by now. If it is so, we will only get the news in few hours time.

Somebody give good reason as to why Farah is not the escape route to VP, Charles, and few other LTTE carder.

Farah, to come to this stage plus the unknown steel structure LTTE were building (or the one SLDF found could be a 2nd unfinished structure) are too much for a coincident.

My opinion is Farah a planned escape route to LTTE carder.

The worst is now the owner request Norway to get the Farah released. Now LTTE will agree as soon as their carders are onboard. No one will be able to do a foolproof search inside a ship with goods. Specially assuming this is a planned episode, may be having secret compartments to hide once boarded. Or even it could be loading trough the deep see side of the ship. We all have heard many times in the real world that these types of things were happening.

What to be done is left to knowledgeable SLDF. The cost of the ship is nothing compare to money that SL have wasted (plus to be wasted if VP escape) because of LTTE cancer.
