Hostage rescue operation underway

The SLA is continuing its mission to rescue civilians trapped in the NFZ with renewed vigour. SLDF morale is at an all time high after routing the LTTE in PTK east. It is an open secret that the 59th crossed the narrow waterway separating the NFZ from the Mullaitivu mainland. The plan is for the 59th division to hold the south of the NFZ (just south of Vellamulivaikkal) and for the 53rd to cut off the north east of Nanthikandal lagoon which would bring the entire lagoon (barring the borders of the NFZ) under SLA's yoke. The regular units would then continue working on clearing safe passages for the civilians to escape. We will not comment on ongoing SF/LRRP operations.

The LTTE's Czech built T-55 MBT that was attacked and put out of action by the SLA's 58th division has been repaired by the Mech. Brigade engineers. Test firing will take place shortly, the plan is to induct this tank into battle and fire back at the LTTE with their own tank. Jolly good show we say!

Meanwhile there is no sign of the remnants of the Ratha regiment "DPU" cadres that infiltrated during the early part of March. Intel believes that they have abandoned their weapons and mingled with the civilians.

Looks like LTTE is getting boxed in everywhere, first they got boxed in PTK East by the 58th and 53rd, now they are getting boxed in by the Met Police in Parliament Square. There is no end of "boxing in" for the LTTE, everywhere boxed boxed.

KillerT,

Why don't you start your own blog and publish first hand news from your sources?

perein said...

Mahen,
We would love to test the T-55 MBT by stuffing VP or Pottu into it.
Well as the 2nd price we can settle for your self :)

Killer T,
Even bardinath does the same. So lets cut some slack here for mahen aunty.

hard to believe the story abt re-using the T55....the recovery bent the barrel slightly and the turret was wrenched of its contact bearings.
you dont just fix these problems with a few whacks of a ball-pin hammer. you fire the main gun in that state, your liable to explode the round in the barrel..

Thats Kaput for the crew.

on the other hand,...i think the engine and drive-train should be sound/salvageable.

KillerT,

Did you say "DW has more credibility" ?

hahahaha ...

Stick to Ceylon news papers buddy. Not sure why do you need wasting other readers time.

Here is a question for you,

Who has the more credibility between DW,DN and Tamilnet?

Read the articles for last year for those 3 sites and compare the reality before you answer.
Now start digging the Chena.

Mahen,

Can we get Water Board's or Irrigation Department's mobile high capacity water pumps to reduce the water levels in Challai Lagoon? We need to pump water to Nanthikadal Lagoon continuously or 55 can pump water to the ocean directly. That will help us to create more paths for civilians to escape the terras. I am 99.9% positive that we have mobile pumps (not small ones, they are big yet movable in trucks) to do this.

Mahen said...

Sam P,

I think only Prophet Noah can do a task like you suggested.

Mahen said...

I meant Prophet Moses, I am getting my Prophets confused this Easter. But both Prophets conducted miracles involving water didn't they?

Mahen said...

Sam P,

Maybe you should pass on your suggestion to DW, he will fall for anything. He also likes ideas involving water (RABS, SBS etc.).

Sam Perera said...

Mahen,

Hmm, it is not such a miraculous task. There are two way the Challai Lagoon can get water. First is the small streams flowing and the other is water seeping through the soil from the sea side (what makes it a lagoon). Diesel powered pumps can pump up to 100 million gallons a day. We need to pump water out faster than the input rate. This is nothing impossible. Engineers around the world use this type of machines regularly in dewatering tasks. If you have access to SLA planners, please get them to try this. Brigadiers Prasanna Silva or Shavendra Silva could be may be more open to unconventional thinking.

Extra ordinary problems need extra ordinary solutions.

Sam Perera said...

Mahen,

I am not kidding, get this up if possible.

Mahen said...

Ok Sam, I will get it across, hope they don't laugh it off! But honestly I am sure the army engineers have thought of this too, weren't we the pioneers of irrigation since antiquity?

Sam Perera said...

Mahen,

What we lost from our ancestors is the ability to dream the impossible and make it come true. MR, GR, and SF together with our current military are the exceptions to this and they should not stop here. I hope that they will leave their legacy among many Sri Lankan generations to come. BTW, don't hesitate to contact the Water Board or Irrigation Department if needed. Those engineers have a sacred duty to help SLA.

Mahen said...

I don't have contacts with the waterboard, but I am sure Rana / Ananda-USA does, maybe Rana / Ananda-USA can help?

Pakistan thinks India has been behind the attack on SL cricket team .

Truth may be a secret to the top ministers on India as well. True or false, the claim puts a bit of extra pressure. India has not given us anything with will. We always need to keep them apologetic than aggressive.

Fitting moment.

Rana said...

Sam/Mahen,

Well, I never thought Sam’s suggestion is worthwhile to consider as a practical option under present context. Military solutions are much more feasible. What we need here is to capture three road fronts into the NFZ and expand army controlled area well into the NFZ. This will see most of remaining LTTE cadres gets killed as well as facilitating civilians to come out. Civilians also should create unrest, if they want to come out. LTTE force is now limited and they cannot hold the territory against army and guard civilians at the same time.

If civilians started attacking small packets of LTTE cadres to get hold of some arms, it will help both sides immensely.

--- Rana --

Sam Perera said...

Rana/Mahen,

My suggestion is to create more accessible paths for civilians in the case we are stuck in the current location little more than what we would like to. Have you ever used a 100 million gallons per day mobile pump somewhere? If so, you should know what we can do without loosing our soldiers. Many more places will become usable for civilians to use instead of current 3-4 places. That will stretch LTTE tiget all over for easier hunting by SF/LRRP. However, if SLA is their already, there is no point of this exercise. Regardless, lowering water in Challai Lagoon is not a big deal. Anyway, the contact should go from MOD not from any of us.

I hereby solemnly declaire that I stand by the Leadership of the present Government of Sri Lanka and the Defence Forces in their policy to eradicate separatist terrorism from my motherland Sri Lanka.

Dear Mr President, we the people of Sri Lanka elected you to office using our democratic right. We support your unwaivering efforts, regardless of univited and unwelcome pressures from external meddlers, to continue with the current humanitarian operations to liberate our Tamil fellow citizens of Sri Lanka. The vast majority of Sri Lankans of all races are behind you at this time. We have come such a long and hard way, let us finish this once and for all. Please DO NOT give in to external pressure applied by hypocrites who follow double standards when it comes to fighting terrorism.

Mahen,

We all realised DW is not credible in last few months, however it DW, DN, Long Ranger and SF@LNP stopterro@LNP and ours truly 'Jangi Mahen' provide invaluable information and service in psycho-war/information war regardless how accurate they are.

Jangi - your own credibility is also up in the air, first you pretended be a pussycat then changed spotted Jungi. Your claim of Puligal is also raise alarms. Why would I trust someone who I know pretend to be someone else. I won't be surprised one of these nights you turn up with spotted Jangi again!
But keep writing..

Widana said...

Sam,
Even if practical I think your suggestion would be an ecological disaster.
A better option IMO would be to drop some structures in to the lagoon that will give some cover to civilians coming through, and possibly for our snipers to get closer. May be some sand bunds across the lagoon too.

But I think SF is always a few steps ahead of us :-)

Maskman,

DW is good most of the time but too lazy to post regularly, some times he didn’t write anything for 5-6 days.

In a blog most important thing is free exchange of news, ideas and somebody’s position regarding a news item, situation or concept.

We all can read news from elsewhere. What Mahen has done is providing free media for us to discuss things without censoring or delay.

F****ing DW is taking 6-10 hours to moderate our posts and it kills the thrill of posting.

So, My thanks to Mahen.

Tamils find a way to go home after days of protesting and nobody taken it on SL govt yet.

Initial statements contradict heavily to the final result. Shows that they finally had enough for the day and badly wanted an excuse to go home.

Dess Browne has promised a lot. But next they will have to hold another protest to urge GOSL to accept Dess Browne. We are not bound to deal with him at all.

Rana said...

Des Browne can f**k himself, tiger loving eelam worshipping bastard.

Sujeewa Kokawala said...

The technique seem to be the most straight forward. SLDF cross the barriers, and take them back to safety. Demolish and blockades, human or material and in the process bring the territory under control.

I personally believe tat Pussycat leadership should be destroyed, and there shouldn't be a known place for final breath of theirs. Imagine if Rohana Wijeweera was buried. JVP will make a pilgrimage on every Nov 30 to the place. Rather... make him the enigma which he was anyway.

I was an ardent supporter of allowing him to run away in order to avoid some other separatist movement getting shaped under a younger person. But seeing the proceedings of past couple of months, I think we should simply evaporate him w/o any trace. Let the conspiracy theorists debate on what happened.

Sujeewa Kokawala said...

Rana, if the London monkeys gave up for a promise by Dess Browne, that means they were very hungry. Dess Browne will begin his protest after the monkeys leave the parliament squire. That is for acceptance by GOSL.

Monkeys are fun. More fun when they come in all colors.

Maskman and Rana;

Whatever is right about DW, one thing is clear. Now DW posts accompany < 200 comments. That means out of 1000+ list only ~200 are meaningful. And it has done a great cleanup although the moderation is a pain for us.
